During the second year we have to attend lectures on an elementary knowledge of the art of nursing, which we found very useful and interesting. We also have been taught how to vaccinate a 'person. When smallpox cases occurred in Hongkong we volunteered to vaccinate the poor people. From now on we will have our First Aid and Home Nursing Examinations alternately every year, as long as we belong to the division.
Thus we have found that this St. John Ambulance Asso- ciation not only teaches us to help our injured neighbours, but also makes us very useful to our households in time of peace, as well as to our country in time of war. Therefore,
we hope that other Chinese girls' schools in this Colony will some day turn their attention to the art of Home Nursing for the benefit of our own country and countrymen.

A LAUNCH PICNIC.
It was so hot on the 29th of May that we decided to arrange a launch pienie. Some of our friends were invited. We met at the Queen's Pier, started off in a launch at 3.30 p.m., and went to Repulse Bay.
The day was fine, the water was smooth, and the breeze as it blew past us had a refreshing and cooling effect. From afar off we saw the sun shining on the water which sparkled like many silver stars. Some white clouds travelled slowly above our heads, while others clung to the mountain tops.
An hour had passed before the bay was in sight. Having changed into our bathing costumes, we waited until the launch was at anchor, then we got down into the water. The water was cool and lovely. There were many swimmers; the men were dressed in black or dark bathing costumes, but there were lady swimmers with their many coloured swimming costumes. The colours were so bright that the water of the bay was like a mixture of colours instead of a greenish one. Groups of two or three were seen lying on the sand sun- bathing. We swam and played in the water for a long time, then went back to the launch. Tea was prepared by our friends who were on board. While we were taking our tea, the launch sailed homewards.
By that time the sum was setting in the west, casting its rays over the sky like a huge many coloured fan, while the waves danced like so many coloured beads; the clouds close to the sun formed a mixture of colours that was very pleasing to the sight. As we went on, the might fell. The lights in the fishing junks near by were like the stars in the sky. The scene was so lovely, that I can hardly describe it. Soon the harbour was in sight. The harbour of Hongkong has been praised by many tourists, but even we who live in Hongkong all our lives could not help praising its beauty. The lights cover nearly all the hills, and they cast a beautiful reflection upon the harbour.
We landed at 7.30 p.m. and went home. Thus ended one of the most pleasant days in our lives.

DESCRIPTION OF THE SUNSET.
The sun is glowing along the western hill and the sky is as blue as the ocean; while the clouds near by the setting sun are slowly disappearing behind the hills. Still the sun
